Opening of Lesson Study in Faculty of Tarbiyah and Education at 1st Floor Meeting Room
An activity for Teacher Competency Improvement through Lesson Study Activities will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, July 13-14, 2022, at the Meeting Room of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Education State Islamic University of Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, organized by the Division of PTK, Data and Information Systems, Sub Coordinator of the Sub Group Capacity Building of PTK. An activity for Teacher Competency Improvement through Lesson Study Activities will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, July 13-14, 2022, at the Meeting Room of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Education State Islamic University of Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, organized by the Division of Educators and Education Personnel, Data and Information Systems, Sub Coordinator of the Sub Group Capacity Building of Educators and Education Personnel. This event gathered 29 elementary school teachers and 21 junior high school teachers from Yogyakarta. The Head of Education Office, Budi Santosa Asrori, S.E., M.Si., explained that for this activity, Jovan Restofel Bashir and Ryo Suzuki were brought in as resource people.
Lecturers of Education for Islamic Elementary School Teachers and Mathematics, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Education, State Islamic University of Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, are also excited about working with teachers to learn about lesson study has been implemented in Japan and several other schools. Ryo Suzuki noted that students should be able to appreciate the learning process and have an enjoyable understanding of learning. Students and teachers must also be happy with the teaching and learning process. The resource person asked that the participants follow the model to get motivation and knowledge to apply lesson study from elementary school to the university level.
On the first day, Ryo asked that the teachers be able to divide the students into groups using different methods and strategies by creating group names based on the games created by Ryo and all of the teachers. After dividing the groups, Ryo assigned things for each group to discuss, such as building a tower with straws and marbles, writing down different words, and playing in other communication activities. Various concepts and ideas came from the discussion due to this activity. All of the teachers were excited to be a part of this activity. On the second day, all teachers from each group had the chance to discuss their ideas on the lesson study that each group member had developed.
With this activity, teachers and lecturers can apply this activity to gather as much new knowledge about the learning process, especially lesson study.
