PGMI GOES TO ISEAS (ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute)

The Education for Islamic Elementary School Teacher Program visited a Singapore Institute as part of the Kalijaga International Student Mobility Awards (KISMA). Precisely is at the ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute of Southeast Asian Studies. An Act of Parliament created the Institute as an autonomous body in 1968. In August 2015, the Institute changed its name to ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute in honour of Singapore's First President, Mr Yusof Ishak. The visit would take place on September 14, 2022, at 14:30 local time. The arrival of participants at ISEAS was warmly welcomed by the academic community, who picked up and delivered the visiting participants to the meeting/presentation room. We were met with a coffee break in front of the conference room, with a self-service system.

Dr Siwage Dharma Negara opened the activity with greetings. At ISEAS - Yusof Ishak Institute, he is a Regional Economic Studies Programme Co-coordinator, Indonesia Studies Program Co-coordinator, and Singapore APEC Study Center, Coordinator. When Dr Siwage mentioned one of his favourite foods, traditional Indonesian Fried Rice, the audience's attention was drawn to him. During the opening speeches, visiting participants are invited to take a book, including a selection of ISEAS journals/publications and an ISEAS manual book. The second speaker was Dr Imam Machali, M.Pd., Deputy Dean III of FITK UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, who also welcomed enthusiastically.

The following agenda item is the presentation of papers by two students from the State Islamic University of Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, as well as the chance to listen to the presentation of research papers by Ms Sharifah Afra Binte Syed Farid Alatas from ISEAS. This session's attendees appeared to be eager. Participants and students of the ISEAS academic community seemed to be lost in the afternoon atmosphere.
The activity closed with the signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the State Islamic University of Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta and the ISEAS - Yusof Ishak Institute to further educational collaboration. The visiting participants made sure to capture their time at the ISEAS - Yusof Ishak Institute by taking pictures with the ISEAS academic community. This partnership is intended to become an educational meeting place that may inspire and deliver new knowledge to students at the Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta State Islamic University.
