Education Workshop: Analyses of Learning Difficulties in Elementary School Children by Bachelor of Education for Islamic Elementary School Teachers Program State Islamic University of Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta Year 2022

Student Development course Class A from Bachelor of Education for Islamic Elementary School Teachers Program, handled an educational workshop "Analyzing Problems with Learning Difficulties in Elementary School Students" in room 312, 3rd floor of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Education State Islamic University of Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta and room zoom meeting. (26/04/2022). The multiple incidents of learning problems found in primary schools inspired this program. This workshop inspired students and lecturers in the Bachelor of Education for Islamic Elementary School Teachers Program to hold educational workshops by inviting two resource persons, Mrs Harlina Nursiamti, S.Pd.SD as a teacher trainer for accompanying learning difficulties from SDN Caturtunggal 06 Yogyakarta and Mrs Iklima Istiqomah, M.Pd. as an educational psychology practitioner from the Indonesian Pilot Laboratory Elementary School, University of Education Bandung.
Mrs. Fitri Yuliawati, S.Pd.Si., M.Pd.Si, a lecturer in the Student Development course, opened the workshop with a speech from the committee's chairman, Dewi Numalisa. She gave thanks to all persons interested in the organization of educational workshops. She hoped this educational workshop would help reduce cases of learning problems at the elementary school. Ms Harlina Nursiamti, S.Pd.SD mentioned reading levels in describing the difficulties of learning to read. Reading is divided into two levels: essential reading and comprehension reading. Essential reading is designed for kids in grades 1, 2, and 3. Mrs Harlina stated that reading comprehension is meant for high-level students in grades 4, 5, and 6. Besides reading levels, problem identification, evaluation of learning challenges in beginning reading, and comprehension are also discussed.
Meanwhile, Ms Iklima discussed the problems with learning to write, specifically dysgraphia and neuroplasticity.Dysgraphiais a disorder that causes writing difficulties in children and is characterized by difficulty in writing. Children with dyslexia usually use the wrong words while talking. The workshop ended with a documentation session led by the officers.
